Established in 2010, Indochina Energy is a specialist trade, investment and venture management firm focused on the resources, energy, logistics and infrastructure sectors of South and Southeast Asia.
Indochina Energy works discreetly as an on-the-ground local strategic partner and facilitator for trading groups, international family offices, investment institutions and corporations.
The firm has over a decade of experience in Asia working in partnership with several family-owned businesses as well as a number of major international energy and infrastructure corporations to evaluate, develop and manage innovative new strategies for market entry, investment, new business launches and commodity trades.
THE GREATER INDOCHINA REGION
The region which lies to the south of the great Asian mountain ranges, extending from the Hindu Kush in the west to the Central Highlands in the east, is home to a third of the world’s population: over 2.5 billion people.
The Asian Development Bank has estimated that the developing countries in this region will need incremental infrastructure investment of at least US$600 billion per year between now and 2030 to maintain growth momentum, tackle poverty and respond to climate change. Over half of this investment is needed in the power sector and around a third in transportation infrastructure. This is where Indochina Energy is focused.
South and Southeast Asian energy consumption is expected to double between now and 2050, with electricity demand tripling. According to the IEA, by 2050, one-third of power generation in the region will be from renewable sources. India alone will need nearly 3 million public charging stations to support electric vehicle (EV) adoption targets by 2030.
The region’s urban population is projected to grow by over 350 million people by 2030 and new city expansion projects like Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, will be increasingly developed as ‘smart cities’.
