Charaka Sumanasekara

Senior Board Advisor

Charaka has over 17 years’ experience in senior management, consultancy, project management and advisory in the areas of technology, financial services, oil and gas, energy, ports and maritime and construction.

He has worked in Europe, Middle East, Sri Lanka and Singapore. He joined Indochina Energy as a Senior Board Advisor over five years ago and is Managing Director for AWR Lloyd’s South Asia, Middle East Africa practice.

Charaka worked at SBT as Executive Director in construction, project management and FM services in Oman and Sri Lanka and has been advisor to one of the leading Singapore-based oil trading companies specialised in marine fuel supply and shipping.

Charaka has also been director of a Greek tanker and dry bulk shipping company called DCC maritime with a focus on their South Asia and Singapore expansion.

Charaka previously worked on project advisory at Standard Bank for Middle East, African and American clients. Prior to this he acted as a consultant at Capgemini, Sony in the United Kingdom and Microsoft operations in Sri Lanka.

He has a BBA from University of Colombo.
